I’ve spent a lot of time searching for the easiest pizza dough recipe, I’m not one to wait around for hours while the dough rises, let’s be honest, my husband and I are normally hungry and ready to eat, so waiting isn’t an option.
Ive made this dough soooo many times, and at first it didn’t work out and it would be either too dry, or way too wet, and I would have to make several batches at a time! One time I was out of Olive oil, so I substituted it with vegetable oil, it seemed a little hard after it had sat, and I was concerned, but it turned out to be really, really good! I have learned that there is some wiggle room with cooking, but zero with baking. Now I’ve got it mastered, and we tend to use it to make calzones more often than pizza.
When I do make calzones, I have started to use an egg wash on the final product, before putting it in the oven. I used olive oil the first couple times, and there’s a huge difference, once i discovered egg wash, I’ve never looked back!
I’m going to share photos of pizza, calzones, and pizza subs that I’ve made. The pizza sub was made with a baguette, but it looked cute, so i included it.
Here is the recipe for dough
1- .25 packet of dry yeast
1- teaspoon white sugar
1 cup of warm water
2.5 cups of flour
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt
mix these items in the mixing bowl and let set for 10 minutes, or until creamy. I let it set for the whole 10 minutes. I’ve learned after a few times.
add
2.5 cups of flour
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt
mix together with the dough hook, then let it rest 5 mins
turn onto a lightly floured surface
either roll out for a pizza or calzone, build respective item
put into preheated oven at 450 for 18 mins, that’s the time that works best for me.
