yellow cake with buttercream

I love making cakes, my husband and i both love yellow cake, so its my go to. i normally only make one layer, depending on my mood the day i bake, just being honest. This particular cake is a double layer, my multiple layer cakes dont always look appealing, but taste pretty darn good. This buttercream was food colored, i do love a pretty colored cake.

heres the recipe for the cake

2 1/2 cups flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/3 sugar

3/4 softened butter

1 1/2 teaspoons kahlua

3 eggs

1 1/4 cups of milk

grease and lightly flour a 13×9 inch pan, or two smaller pans, which is what i decided to do

in a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt, well blended

in large mixing bowl, beat the sugar and butter until fluffy, beat in the kahlua, and eggs until well blended.

then alternately add the dry mix and milk, beat well

pour batter into pan or pans

bake at 350 for 30-35 mins or until toothpick inserted in the center of cake comes out clean

cool for about an hour

make buttercream

1/2 cup butter at room temp, very important

5 cups of powdered sugar

1/4 cup of heavy cream

pinch of salt

beat the butter until its fluffy, then add the powdered sugar and cream and mix

add food coloring if you want, but like a super little drop or two

frost the bottom cake and then the top and sides, i added some sprinkles to make it look pretty. Enjoy and show me some photos of your cakes!
