steamed mussels

My husband loves these over pasta, they are so easy to make and are super cheap, which surprised the heck out of me, i think we pay like $5 a pound, and we get 2 pounds, which is enough for leftovers the next day. I wouldnt touch these with a 10 foot pole, but i have no problem making the for the hubby, he has them when i have crab legs, its a perfect dinner plan!

box of pasta-make and set aside

2 lbs mussels

2 tablespoons of oil

tablespoon of butter

minced garlic-a pinch or two

red pepper flakes-a pinch or two

1 1/2 cups of white dry wine

 

heres the simple way to enjoy mussels at home, for a nice romantic dinner 🙂

make your pasta first, set a side

clean the mussels, and toss any that are really open

heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large pan with a tablespoon of butter, minced garlic, and a little bit of red pepper flakes, dont go too wild, or it will be really spicy, cook this for about 3 mins or so

add the mussels and 1 1/2 cups of white dry wine, increase the heat to high, and cover the pan.

after about 2 mins or so, remove the lid and toss the mussels, cover and cook another 3 or 4 mins, or until they have opened wide.

serve over pasta, enjoy!
