The day i made these for the first time was on my husand an i’s wedding anniversary! I wanted to come up with something new and exiting for or anniversary breafast, so i decided to try making scones. I was a little nervous they werent going to turn out because for some reason i had to add more and more flour to the “lightly floured” surface, but it was fine. Im not sure why the dough came out so moist, i suspect i needed to add the milk slower than i did, once i figure it out i will share. They were also only supposed to be baked for about 15 mins, yeah no, i baked them for almost 30 mins and that was perfect!
3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter cut them in little squares
1 egg
1 cup of milk
combine all the dry products in the mixing bowl, i used a whisk
then cut the butter in, i used a fork, it was hard, but you cant just beat it in, it has to be cut in
mix the egg and milk in a small bowl and stir into dry products
turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, the dough is going to be moist at first
roll into 1/2 inch thick round and use a pizza cuter to cut it into 8 slices
put them on the baking sheet, and bake at 15 or until they are brown at 400, mine took almost 30 mins
severed the warm with butter and jelly! enjoy!
