hamburger buns

So it’s a different world we are living in now, you run out of something as simple as hamburger buns it’s not easy to just run out to the store anymore. That being said, we were out of them the other day and I really wanted burgers, so I figured out a way to make my own, and I didn’t really expect them to work, but they were amazing! The only thing is that they are really filling, which isn’t really a bad thing I guess. This was my first time making bread without a bread machine, which we do have, but I wanted to try something new.

1 teaspoon (2 .25 packs) of yeast

1/2 cup of warm water

1/2 cup of milk

1 egg

2 tablespoons oil (i used xtra virgin olive oil)

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3 cups of flour

1 tablespoon butter

in a mixing bowl stir the yeast and water and let sit about 10 mins until dissolved

separately mix milk, egg, oil, sugar and salt

add  ingredients  to the yeast, combine it all

add all the flour and mix until it forms a dough, knead for about 10 mins until its smooth and springs back when poked.

let the dough rise, covered,  for about an hour.

once its ready toss it on a lightly floured surface and divide into 8 pieces, and shape into balls, mine were all different sizes, but pretty close. Put the balls on a baking sheet, and let rise for 40 mins

preheat to 375

brush the buns with butter and bake for 18 mins, or until golden brown.

serve with a burger or veggie burger!

enjoy!
