calzones

I used to make lots of scratch pizzas, and they always turn out great. We were getting bored with them so I thought why not fold them over and make calzones! Now I don’t really make pizza anymore, my husband is a vegetarian, and I’m not, so its easy to make two different calzones. Making two pizzas was tricky, but doable, its just easier to fit these in the oven at the same time.

pizza sauce

8 oz bag of shredded mozzarella cheese

proteins

1- .25 packet of dry yeast

1- teaspoon white sugar

1 cup of warm water

2.5 cups of flour

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 teaspoon of salt

mix these items in the mixing bowl and let set for 10 minutes, or until creamy. I let it set for the whole 10 minutes. I’ve learned after a few times.

add

2.5 cups of flour

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 teaspoon of salt

mix together with the dough hook

ok, then let it rest 5 mins

once the dough is ready split  it into two balls, roll them out one at a time

now time to build the calzone

brush pizza sauce on the side closest to you

add cheese

add proteins

flip the other side over and cover it, pinch around it really good.

rub the outside of it with an egg wash, use that to seal the edges as well

use a fork to cut 3 or 4 slits on the top to allow the steam to come out

bake at 475 for about 10  mins

enjoy
