I love empanadas so much, there are a few places in the city that sell them, but sometimes I feel like just eating at home. I thought id try and make my own, what could go wrong, right? They turned out really good and were super fun to make! You can be so creative with them.
3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 oz butter
1 egg
1/2 cup of milk, could be a little less, you want a smooth dough
mix the flour and salt in a food processor
add the butter and pulse
add the egg and the milk in small increments and continue pulsing until a clumpy dough forms
split the dough into 2 large balls
flatten into the shape of disks
roll the dough into a thin sheet and cut out round disc shapes, I used a drinking glass to cut them
fill them with a spoonful of your ingredients
seal them, make sure you seal them tight and brush the edges with an egg wash, or use a fork to seal them
refrigerate them for 30 mins before baking.
bake at 375 for 20 mins
