black bean burgers

Since my husband is a vegetarian and sometimes i want to have burgers for dinner i need to find alternatives for him and he cant eat mushrooms and a lot of veggie burgers have mushrooms. I decided to try making him a burger out of beans and let me tell you it was very interesting to make, but the results were satisfying.

1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed

1/2 green bell pepper cut in half

1/2 onion, diced

3 gloves of peeled garlic

1 egg

1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon cumin

1 teaspoon hot sauce

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

mash the beans with a fork until thick and pasty

in a food processor chop the bell pepper, onion, and garlic, then stir into the beans

I’m a small bowl stir together egg, cayenne pepper, cumin, and hot sauce

add the egg mix to the beans, mix in breadcrumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together

divide into 4 patties

either bake in the oven for 10 mins on each side at 375

or pan-fry them with some olive oil for a few mins on each side, it was sort of a guessing game on how much time to fry them for, I just did like 5 mins on each side.

serve on a burger bun with your favorite condiments
