pretzel bites

I have this love for Auntie Annes pretzel bites, I may be obsessed, just saying! I decided that since we can’t leave the house at the moment I would try to make my own. I’ve made pretzels in the past, so it couldn’t be that different. They turned out to be AMAZING!

1 and 1/2 cups water

2 and 1/4 teaspoons of yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon melted butter

4 and 1/2 cups of flour

1/2 cup baking soda

1 large egg, beaten

sea salt

whisk the yeast into 1.5 cups of warm water, let sit for a few mins, add salt, brown sugar, and melted butter, whisk to combine

add 3 cups of flour, one cup at a time, mix with the dough hook until thick

poke the dough, it will bounce back, if so it’s ready to knead

knead onto a lightly floured surface for about 3 mins, shape into a ball and let it rest for 10 mins in an oiled bowl, in a warm area.

when the dough is ready cut into 6 sections and roll each one into ropes, about 12 inches or so, depending on who many bites you want. Once they are all rolled out cut them into little bites

boil 9 cups of water and add the baking soda, once the water is boiling add about 10 bites to the water for 10 seconds, pull them out and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with egg wash and add salt.

bake at 425 for 10 mins

serve with cheese or pizza sauce, I used pizza sauce and they were amazing!

enjoy
